"She's Got Jazz" documentary film screening

Shanghai Jazz invites you to join an exclusive group of jazz fans for a  special evening at the home for jazz in North New Jersey.

On March 11th at 6:30 pm, Shanghai Jazz will host a preview screening of SHE’s GOT JAZZ, a new music film by Jim Burns, who will introduce the screening. Also scheduled to perform is one of the film’s featured performers, trumpeter/singer Bria Skonberg.

The event will introduce the film and its funding campaign to raise production finishing costs and film festival submission/marketing expenses, with all contributions tax deductible.

SHE’s GOT JAZZ captures the excitement being generated by four rising young stars – saxophonist Grace Kelly, trumpeter/singer Bria Skonberg, and vocalists Brianna Thomas and Veronica Swift – as they garner critical acclaim and a growing following of equally young fans.

The film takes viewers inside the New York jazz scene with electrifying live performance footage and comments about the artists by major jazz names such as Chris Botti and Catherine Russell, as well as by the artists themselves, as they share their personal journeys and dedication to a musical genre that has been traditionally male-dominated.

SHE’s GOT JAZZ is produced and directed by Jim Burns, who produced and directed the PBS documentary Jimmy Van Heusen – Swingin’ with Frank & Bing. It is co-written by Will Friedwald, author of nine books about popular music and jazz.

Please join us in bringing this remarkable film to audiences and helping to keep jazz alive and thriving for new generations to come.

If it is not possible for you to attend, but would like to support this important film, tax deductible contributions may be made via the project’s 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, the New York Foundation for the Arts at: https://www.nyfa.org/ArtistDirectory/ShowProject/3ef540ff-b6a6-4c42-bfee-a6c23ba2dbc7
