This week, as part of Shanghai Jazz’s continuing “Tuesday Jazz Series,” Bassist Hal Slapin and Drummer John Vourtsis welcome Madison’s own, Pianist Jerry Vezza and special guest Andrew Van Tassel on Sax. Jerry is a musician who embodies the classic jazz values of melodic warmth, rhythmic subtlety and true elegance. Jazz critic Zan Stewart of the Star Ledger wrote that "Vezza sings with his hands" and "plays resplendent jazz piano." Andrew is a NYC-based saxophonist and composer who bridges the tradition of jazz with contemporary music. This promises to be a very swingin’ night of music.
