Shanghai Jazz begins its “Tuesday Jazz Trio Series” tonight. Each Tuesday, Bassist Hal Slapin and Drummer John Vourtsis will welcome a different player from a rotation of world class musicians, and who better to kick off the new program than Madison’s own Piano Man, Jerry Vezza. Jerry is a musician who embodies the classic jazz values of melodic warmth, rhythmic subtlety and true elegance. Jazz critic Zan Stewart of the Star Ledger wrote that "Vezza sings with his hands" and "plays resplendent jazz piano." When Jerry, Hal and John play together, a swingin’ night is guaranteed.
And come early to hear Rich Court playing solo piano. Standards, Beatles & beyond. He starts at 5:30.
Music begins at 6:30 with two sets. Reservations are recommended for this special evening.
